Easy Guitar Songs For Beginners

Hello, guitar players! It’s Joshua Olivieri from guitarcontrol.com bringing you some easy guitar songs for all of the beginners out there.

So you just got your guitar, you’ve learned a few chords, and you strum well. Now you’re ready to start playing music. You may be a put unsure of how to start looking for a song, so I’ve compiled a list of some easy, yet familiar, songs for you to exercise your fingers with.

1. You’re Beautiful by James Blunt: This early 2000s hit took the hearts of lovers and people in love by storm. The song requires a capo on the eighth fret to play it simply, but there’s nothing wrong with a capo. The chords are easy. While there is an occasional G/F# and Em7, those can be substituted with just a regular G and E minor.

2. The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars: This tune by the famous Bruno Mars is a ballad about doing absolutely nothing! It’s about as catchy as they come, and it’s very easy to play. Slap a capo on the 4th fret, make sure you have your G, C, D, and A minor ready, and you’re all good to kick back and sing a lazy song.

3. Riptide by Vance Joy: It’s hard to believe this beauty was written while Vance Joy was messing around on his ukelele. Luckily for us, he only used three chords: G, C, and Am. You can either use a capo on the 1st fret or play without one at all. The strumming is a little more difficult to master, but it’s no doubt this swaying song will soon be coming from your fingertips.

4. Rude by Magic!: A reggae hit that strikes a chord (see what I did there?) with most of us that is simple to play? Sign me up! One of the best summer songs of 2014, you’ll be even happier to know that it only makes use of the four basic chords: G, C, D, Em. Magic! wasn’t rude at all to us guitar players wanting to jam along.

All these songs are fairly easy to play, and won’t require too much practice. Don’t get yourself down if you don’t get the hang of it right away though. Crack your fingers, stretch your arms, and play your heart out.
