Easy Bebop Guitar Lick For A Cool Modern Jazz Sound

tabs for Guitar Lesson with Bebop Lick - Cool Modern Jazz Sound

Hi. I’m John McClennan and I’m here today with
Guitar Control and I’m going to bring you a new lick.
This is a really cool, modern jazz-sounding lick. It
uses some bebop elements and also some more modern
sounds to it.

Let’s begin right away. I’ll tell you the chords that
it goes over. It’s called a II V I, A minor 7, D-9,
G major 7. Again, one of the most common chord progressions
in jazz. Let’s start here.

It starts on the root of A and you come in on the and-four.
So what I’m playing here is the 5th fret, 8th fret and then
the 5th slide up to the 7th and then the 10th, 7th, 9th,
8th 10th. Then I come down with the bebop scale, which looks
like this: 10, 9, 8, 7, just chromatic. Ten, 8, 7, 9, 7 and
then I do this little lick here, which is basically 7th fret,
10th fret, 7th, 8th, 9th. And then I skip up a few strings
to the 8th fret, 10th, 12th, 10th, 12th, pull-off, 12th,
way up to the 15th, which is your root on G major 7.

Again, the whole lick slowly is like this. Notice the range
of this lick as well. It’s not just staying in one position.
Check that out and be sure to click on the links below for
the tab and we’ll see you in the next lesson.

Here’s the lick one more time.

Thanks
